Of all the outrages going on these days, the condoning of torture by our President and by one of our major political parties is, to me, the most egregious. Can we put grown-ups in charge again soon? Please?
All of the presidential candidates went on WWE Raw. When I first saw this, my first though was of a future historian writing about the Collapse of the American Empire, somewhat along these lines:
The full extent of the degradation and deterioration of American Society is most readily apparent in the ritual humiliation the Citizens would force onto their leaders. The appearance of Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and John McCain on WWE Raw was one more step in a long line of potential and actual American Presidents trying desperately to seem like they have a shred of humanity inside of them in order to curry favor with the masses. It was followed by such acts as 2012 Oklahoma Primary Dunk Tank and the 2016 Democratic Convention at the Omaha Arby’s. This progression culminated in the event that is now considered the end of the American Era: the 2020 Jindal/Kucinich Presidential Debate and Anal Gangbang.
Did anyone else feel the same?
